Samsung Galaxy A Series Gets Smarter: Gemini AI Assistant Arrives Via Side Button
Samsung is bringing a touch of flagship AI sophistication to its popular Galaxy A series. In a move that signals a broader push for accessible artificial intelligence, the Korean tech giant has announced that select Galaxy A devices will soon feature direct access to Google Gemini, the AI-powered assistant developed by Google, through the side button.
This update effectively brings a beloved feature previously exclusive to the Galaxy S series to a wider audience. According to Samsung, pressing and holding the side button will launch Gemini, allowing users to leverage its capabilities for a smarter, more intuitive mobile experience.

This initiative aligns with Samsung's vision of democratizing AI, making cutting-edge technology available to more users. The Galaxy A series – known for its balance of performance and affordability – is set to become even more compelling with this enhancement.
Awesome Intelligence, featuring select AI-powered capabilities, was previously introduced on the new Galaxy A56 5G, Galaxy A36 5G and Galaxy A26 5G, However, this latest update, according to Samsung spokesperson Jay Kim, makes integrating intelligent support into daily tasks fast and efficient.
What can users expect with instant Gemini access? Imagine quickly checking your schedule, finding the best restaurants, or getting personalized gift recommendations, all with simple voice commands. Furthermore, Gemini will be able to seamlessly interact with a range of apps. For example, a user could say “Find French, pet-friendly restaurants with terrace seating nearby” and Gemini will rapidly fetch suggestions from Google Maps, allowing you to share it with a friend for immediate plans.
This update underscores the close collaboration between Samsung and Google in delivering seamless, intuitive AI experiences. As Google prepares to phase out Google Assistant by the end of 2025 and fully embrace Gemini, this move ensures a smooth transition for Galaxy A users.

According to Samsung, the software update bringing Gemini to the Galaxy A series is slated to roll out globally starting in early May. Compatibility will extend to models released between 2023 and 2025 running One UI 7.
The upcoming update will be available on Galaxy A56 5G, A55 5G, A54 5G, A36 5G, A35 5G, A34 5G, A26 5G, A25 5G, A25e 5G and A24.
