Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7: Leaks Suggest Impossibly Thin Design, But Is It Believable?

The rumor mill is churning with whispers about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, and the latest buzz is about its potential to be impossibly thin. But can we really believe the hype? The competition in the foldable phone market is heating up, and Samsung is under pressure to deliver a device that surpasses rivals like Oppo and Honor. Will the Z Fold 7 truly redefine thinness, or is this just wishful thinking?

According to a new report, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 might measure just 8.2mm when folded. This claim, originating from Greek publication Techmaniacs citing "very reliable sources," suggests a significant reduction from the Fold 6's expected 9.5mm and a world record, surpassing the Oppo Find N5.

However, some skepticism is warranted. As Mashable's Tech Editor, Timothy Beck Werth, points out, achieving such thinness presents significant engineering challenges, particularly regarding the USB-C port. Oppo itself emphasizes the custom-designed parts and structural reinforcements needed to make the Find N5 as thin as it is. Surpassing that by 0.7mm so quickly, especially considering Samsung's previous thicknesses, seems ambitious.

The article further mentions that theGalaxy Z Flip 7 is rumored to have a larger 4,300 mAh battery and Samsung is expected to introduce Galaxy Watch Ultra with a revamped Wear OS skin that closely resembles OneUI 7 for Galaxy smartphones. Note that these details should be approached with caution. The prices for the coming Z Flip 7 could be the same as the earlier Z Flip 6 models.

The other leaker, @TheGalox, via SamMobile adds that in the coming year, foldable fans are expecting a big leap forward and are also expecting an ultra-thin phone by the companies like Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and iPhone 17 Air. Also it has been noted that the biggest obstacle to ultra-thin phones lies in the cameras sticking out noticeably, which is quite recurring in modern smartphone design.

Ultimately, the only certainty will come from Samsung itself. The information provided and the speculations should be consumed with caution as nothing can be said until the final reveal of the product, along with the price reveal.
