Samsung’s Cybertruck-Inspired Polygon Foldable Concept Turns Heads at Display Week 2025

Samsung is pushing design boundaries with its latest concept phone, the Polygon Foldable, unveiled at Display Week 2025. This bold device, reminiscent of Tesla's Cybertruck, has sparked conversations about the future of smartphone aesthetics and Samsung's willingness to experiment.

The Polygon Foldable features a striking angular, metallic body that sets it apart from other foldable phones. Edgar Cervantes from Android Authority had a chance to go hands-on with the device, noting its solid feel and unique design. "My first impression was that it felt very solid and had a really nice weight to it," Cervantes wrote. "It makes sense, though. That mostly metallic body will undoubtedly add some weight to it, but it felt good, or at least I happen to prefer it when phones have a nice heft to them."

Despite its intriguing appearance, the Polygon Foldable is not without its flaws. The UI on both the internal and external displays appeared unpolished, and the external cameras were non-functional, merely displaying the screen underneath. This suggests that the device is primarily a showcase for Samsung's foldable display technology rather than a market-ready product.

"This is definitely not a fully functional device," Cervantes explained. "I feel like it was pretty much a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 that the company gutted and created a cool new design for, not worrying about much else than the looks."

Yash, a tech storyteller at Sammy Fans, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that the Polygon Foldable highlights what's possible with innovative design, even if the software and camera aspects are still in their early stages. He suggested that consumers looking for a polished foldable experience might be better off with the Galaxy Z Flip 6 or Z Fold 6.

The Polygon Foldable's bold design has also ignited discussions about the potential for more exciting designs in Samsung's flagship smartphones. An Android Authority piece argued that the Polygon proves Samsung could design a far more exciting Galaxy S26. The article laments the monotonous design cycle of current smartphones, stating, "Samsung's Galaxy S series, for instance, has featured virtually the same design since the 2021 Galaxy S21... Talk about wasted potential when there's clearly so much more Samsung can do."

The author further argues that taking greater risks on design could revitalize interest in stagnant product lines. A fresh new look would give consumers new reasons to upgrade, even if the internal hardware remains largely the same.

While the Samsung Polygon Foldable may not hit the market anytime soon, it serves as a powerful reminder of Samsung's design capabilities and the potential for innovation in the smartphone industry. It raises the question: will Samsung dare to bring this same boldness to future Galaxy S and Z models?
