Singer Reimagines the Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe: A Nostalgic Nod to the ’80s with Modern Tech

Singer, renowned for its meticulous Porsche 911 restorations, has unveiled its latest masterpiece: the Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe Reimagined by Singer. This stunning creation pays homage to the rare and iconic Carrera Super Sport Equipment (SSE) of the 1980s, blending classic aesthetics with cutting-edge technology and performance.

The new Singer build begins with a donor 964-generation Porsche 911, which is then stripped, strengthened, and fitted with wider carbon fiber arches, echoing the distinctive widebody design of the original SSE. But the heart of this reimagined 911 lies in its engine: a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six, jointly developed with Cosworth. This powerhouse produces 420 hp and spins to 8,000 rpm, delivering a thrilling driving experience that honors the spirit of the '80s.

"In the 1980s you could order a new 911 Carrera with the pumped-up bodywork of the Turbo but powered by the company’s latest, naturally aspirated flat-six," said Singer boss Rob Dickinson, highlighting the inspiration behind this latest project. The resulting car embodies the best of both worlds: the aggressive look of the Turbo and the raw, unfiltered feel of a naturally aspirated engine.

Developed in consultation with Red Bull Advanced Technologies, the reinforced chassis ensures that the reimagined 911 can handle the increased power and performance. The car boasts modern features like electronically adjustable dampers, carbon ceramic brakes, and five drive modes that adjust traction and stability control, blending classic appeal with 21st-century technology.

One of the most intriguing options is the availability of both fixed and pop-up rear wings. According to Carscoops, "if Singer customers really can’t decide whether to choose the static tail over the active version that retracts into the body when not needed, they can purchase two separate rear ends and swap them when they feel like it." This level of customization allows buyers to create a truly unique and personalized 911.

With only 100 commissions planned, the Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe Reimagined by Singer is an exclusive and highly sought-after machine. While pricing remains undisclosed, it's safe to assume that this automotive masterpiece will command a premium price, reflecting the extensive restoration, customization, and performance enhancements involved.

This latest creation from Singer is more than just a restored classic; it's a statement. A love letter to the 1980s, blending nostalgia with modern engineering to create a truly remarkable driving experience. What are your thoughts on Singer's latest creation?
