Speedrunner Triumphs in Breath of the Wild on Unreleased Nintendo Switch 2!

While the world eagerly awaits the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, a speedrunner has already conquered a demo of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on the unreleased console. This impressive feat occurred at a recent Switch 2 preview event in Tokyo, sending ripples through the gaming community.

Japanese speedrunner Ikaboze, known for their skill and efficiency, showcased their prowess at the event. According to VGC, Ikaboze managed to reach the Breath of the Wild credits in just seven minutes during a 10-minute demo. This wasn't a full any% run but a strategically executed sprint to the final boss, Ganon.

Ikaboze began their demo run from an autosave placed just outside Hyrule Castle. Discarding all of Link's equipment, they made a beeline for their nemesis, Ganon. Their skill and optimized gameplay allowed them to defeat Ganon before the demo timed out, earning applause from the onlookers.

"I was surprised by how many people had gathered," Ikaboze said. "Staff were even filming on their smartphones. This was the first time anyone had completed the Breath of the Wild demo, and staff congratulated me." This moment underscores the anticipation and excitement surrounding the Switch 2 and its enhanced capabilities.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Breath of the Wild promises improved performance and resolution, along with HDR support. It's worth noting that those already owning the game can upgrade for a fee, while Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members will gain access to both BotW and TotK versions as part of their subscription. However, the Expansion Pass downloadable content is not included with the upgrade, as reported by Nintendo Insider.

The upgraded version also features a Zelda Notes companion app, aiding players in tracking Koroks and Shrines. Nintendo has clarified that the Switch 2 Edition games will include both the base game and the upgrade on the cartridge. The release date for the Switch 2 Edition is slated for June 5, 2025, according to Nintendo Insider.

This early victory by Ikaboze highlights the potential of the Nintendo Switch 2 to enhance gameplay experiences. It also showcases the dedication and skill of speedrunners who consistently push the boundaries of what's possible in gaming.
