Starfield’s New ‘Creations’ Mod: Is ‘Watchtower’ Worth $10?

Starfield is getting a lot of attention with its latest May Update, but the highlight for many is the brand-new 'Creations' mod called Watchtower. Developed by Kinggath Creations, known for their popular Fallout 4 mods like Sim Settlements, Watchtower is a significant, DLC-sized addition to the game.

The May Update enhances Starfield with bug fixes, gameplay tweaks, and performance settings, including a new Very Low display setting for PC. Notably, the update vastly expands modding possibilities, enabling modders to upload 'Creations' up to 2GB in size, a major win for Xbox players. But the real draw is Watchtower. Available for $10 (1,000 Creation Credits), this mod introduces a new storyline centered around a militant faction that sees you as a threat.

Watchtower puts you in the crosshairs of a faction that aggressively targets anyone they deem a threat to humanity. You'll team up with another adventurer who is also being hunted. Together, you'll build a resistance, culminating in the creation of your own space station and fleet to combat the Watchtower forces across the stars. The mod features fully voice-acted characters and integrates seamlessly with the base game, DLCs, and other community mods, ensuring compatibility and expanding the Starfield experience.

One of the coolest features is the ability to call in orbital support, reminiscent of Helldivers 2, raining down explosives on enemies from above. You'll be able to target Watchtower outposts, dismantle their network, and even loot equipment from Watchtower troops, like the new Cyberamps.

The question remains: is Watchtower worth the $10? For fans seeking a new adventure and deeper gameplay within Starfield, the answer seems to be a resounding yes. Kinggath Creations reputation and the positive early impressions suggest a high-quality mod that enhances the base game significantly.

Beyond the Watchtower mod, the update brings performance improvements and bug fixes. The addition of Very Low display settings caters to those playing on lower-end PCs or gaming handhelds, like the Steam Deck, improving accessibility for more players.

Starfield players are encouraged to jump back in, explore the new content, and decide for themselves if Watchtower lives up to the hype. Will this mod revitalize interest in Starfield? What are your initial impressions of the new features? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
