TCL Revolutionizes Home Audio with FlexConnect and New QM8K TVs
TCL is making waves in the home entertainment market with its innovative FlexConnect technology, finally bringing Dolby's automatic speaker calibration to consumers. This groundbreaking feature, initially announced in 2023, is set to debut with TCL's 2025 QD-Mini LED TVs, promising a seamless and immersive audio experience like never before.
FlexConnect eliminates the hassle of perfect speaker placement by automatically optimizing surround sound based on the room's layout and speaker positions. Users can now place wireless speakers freely without compromising audio quality. The first audio device supporting this tech is TCL's Z100 smart speaker, designed to pair flawlessly with FlexConnect-enabled TCL TVs.
The TCL Precise Dimming Series, including the QM6K, QM7K, and the newly announced QM8K, will all be FlexConnect-compatible. Users can pair up to four Z100 speakers, working in tandem with the TV's built-in speakers to deliver intelligently calibrated Dolby Atmos sound. This allows for immersive spatial sound without a perfectly symmetrical speaker setup. John Couling, Senior VP of Entertainment at Dolby Labs, emphasizes that Dolby Atmos FlexConnect provides "even more flexibility and adaptability in how they design their home entertainment systems," removing the stress of speaker placement.
The Z100 speakers are expected this summer, marking the first FlexConnect products launched in the United States, alongside the QM8K launch. TCL also introduced its first model of party speakers and the Q65H, its latest Dolby Atmos soundbar.

But the innovations don’t stop there. TCL’s also tackling challenges in Mini-LED TV technology with its new QM8K series mini-LED TVs. These new models offer enhanced brightness (up to 65% higher peak brightness than the mid-range TCL QM7K series) and increased dimming zones (up to 35% more) compared to last year's flagship TCL QM851G, which was highly praised. The QM8K series feature a key improvement: the CrystGlow WHVA Panel with ZeroBorder, boasting an anti-reflective coating and ultra-wide viewing angle, effectively eliminating color shift from off-center seats.
ZeroBorder design minimizes the bezel width, while the Halo Control System uses advanced LED chips and micro lenses to enhance color accuracy and reduce mini-LED backlight “halo” artifacts. With a 144Hz native refresh rate and FreeSync Premium Pro, these TVs are also geared towards gaming enthusiasts.

Pricing for the QM8K series ranges from $2,299.99 for the 65-inch model to $6,499.99 for the 98-inch model. Models are gradually becoming available now or launching next month.
These advancements promise a much more accessible and high-quality home theater experience. Will FlexConnect be the game-changer Dolby Atmos needed? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
