Vanillite Community Day in Pokémon GO: Is Avalanche Enough to Save the Ice Cream Pokémon?
Get ready for a chilly Community Day! Vanillite, the Ice-type Pokémon resembling a scoop of ice cream, is taking center stage in Pokémon GO. But does this frosty favorite have what it takes to make a lasting impact in battles, or will it melt under the pressure? Let's dive into the details and see if this Community Day is worth braving the cold.
The Vanillite Community Day event takes place on April 27th, 2025, from 2-5 p.m. local time. As with all Community Days, expect drastically increased Vanillite spawn rates, making it the perfect time to snag a shiny version. The shiny odds will be significantly boosted, offering a great chance to add this rare variant to your collection.

Evolving Vanillish into Vanilluxe during the event, or up to May 4th at 10 p.m. local time, will grant it the exclusive charged move Avalanche. This Ice-type move is a welcome addition to Vanilluxe's arsenal, but is it enough to elevate its status in the PvP meta?
According to Pokémon GO Hub, while Avalanche improves Vanilluxe in PvP, it may still be one of the worse options for competitive play. Its mono-Ice typing leaves it vulnerable to Fire, Steel, Rock, and Fighting-type attacks, and its bulk isn't impressive. While Avalanche significantly boosts Vanilluxe's win rate, the improvement is coming from a small base of wins to begin with. The analysis suggests that Vanilluxe's pre-evolution, Vanillish, might actually be the better choice in Great League due to its superior movepool and slightly better bulk.
However, in Ultra League, Vanilluxe surpasses Vanillish due to its higher CP ceiling. Despite this, even with Avalanche, its win rate remains underwhelming compared to other Ice-type options. Considering that Vanilluxe has a very limited move pool, it will be difficult to address its shortcomings.
Community Day Bonuses: Sweet Treats and Extra Catches

Is Vanillite Community Day worth it?
Despite its PvP shortcomings, Vanillite Community Day offers a great opportunity to catch a shiny, stock up on candies, and enjoy the boosted XP. While Vanilluxe may not dominate the meta, it's still a fun Pokémon to add to your collection.
