Warhammer 40K: Space Marine Returns! Remastered Edition & Dawn of War Definitive Edition Announced

The Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine universe is making a huge comeback with a remastered edition of the original game and a definitive edition of the beloved RTS, Dawn of War. This resurgence of classic titles is creating a buzz among fans, both old and new.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition: A Second Coming?

Originally released in 2011, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, a character action game developed by Relic Entertainment, is getting a fresh coat of paint. Announced at the Warhammer Skulls Showcase, the Master Crafted Edition promises to deliver a visually enhanced experience with improved textures, character models, remastered audio, and 4K resolution support. The Orks now sport black armor with checker patterns, aligning them more closely with the Goff clan's aesthetic from the Warhammer 40,000 lore. Developer SneakyBox has even added “over 100 new voice lines” to complete this transformation, aiming for a more canon-friendly portrayal. This version also includes all original DLC.

Dawn of War Definitive Edition: A Return to Real-Time Strategy

Relic Entertainment, the studio behind Company of Heroes and the Age of Empires 4 anniversary edition is also working on Dawn of War Definitive Edition, with the goal to "preserve the legacy" of the original RTS game, while simultaneously improving its visuals for more modern machines. Optimized for modern PCs, this edition will include all four classic Dawn of War campaigns, nine armies, and over 200 maps, along with full compatibility with existing mods. Expect upscaled textures, 4K support, improved world lighting, reflections, and shadows, a new in-game camera, and a reworked interface for widescreen monitors.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition will also be available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on day one, June 10th. While the game will cost $39.99, Game Pass subscribers can purchase it at a 20% discount, bringing the price down to $32. This makes it an attractive option for subscribers looking to experience the remastered classic without breaking the bank.
