Xbox Handheld in the Works? Leaked Photos Show ASUS ROG Ally 2 with Xbox Integration
Is Microsoft gearing up to take on the portable gaming market with a dedicated Xbox handheld? Recent leaks suggest a collaboration with ASUS to create a device that could bridge the gap between console gaming and PC portability. The leaked images, originating from the U.S. FCC, showcase what appears to be an ASUS ROG Ally 2 variant with distinct Xbox integration, potentially marking a significant shift in Microsoft's gaming strategy.

According to sources, the device, codenamed "Project Kennan," resembles the ASUS ROG Ally but incorporates Xbox elements. One of the most notable features revealed in the leaked photos is a dedicated Xbox button located on the upper left side of the black model. This strongly suggests deeper integration with the Xbox ecosystem.
While the black model sports the Xbox button, a white variant, likely the standard ASUS ROG Ally 2, lacks this feature. Speculations are rife that the Xbox-integrated version will offer seamless access to the Xbox app on Windows, enhancing the gaming experience for Xbox enthusiasts.
Beyond the Xbox integration, the leaks also provide insights into the potential specs of the ROG Ally 2. While details are still scarce, reports suggest that the black edition may boast a higher-end configuration, featuring an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor with 8 cores and a TDP of 36W, coupled with 64GB of LPDDR5-8533 memory. The white model is rumored to feature an AMD Aeirth Plus with 4 cores and 20W TDP. Storage options may include 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB variants.
The design of the ROG Ally 2 appears to have undergone some changes, with larger grips for a more ergonomic feel and two USB-C ports on the top edge. However, it's worth noting that the screen bezels remain relatively large.

Despite the excitement surrounding the leaked images, some questions remain unanswered. Will this Xbox-ified ASUS ROG Ally be the first device to fall under Microsoft's new "Xbox PC" branding? And perhaps more importantly, how will the ongoing tariff war impact the price point, and further, affect customer affordability?
ASUS is expected to unveil the ROG Ally 2 at Computex 2025. With the leaked images already circulating, it won't be long until we see official renders from ASUS and Microsoft soon.
