Xbox Home Screen Gets a Makeover: Pin Your Favorites & Declutter Your Dashboard
Xbox users, rejoice! Microsoft is rolling out exciting new features to personalize and streamline your Xbox Home screen. Tired of a cluttered dashboard? Get ready to declutter and prioritize what matters most.
Currently being tested by Xbox Insiders, these updates aim to give players more control over their Home screen experience. The focus is on customization, allowing you to create a more personal and efficient interface.

Key features currently in testing include:
- Hiding System Apps: No more system apps cluttering your recently played games list. Hide them away for a cleaner look.
- Pinning Favorites: Pin up to three of your most frequently played games or apps to the front of the list for quick access. Say goodbye to scrolling through a sea of tiles.
"These pins will stay near the front of the list as you launch other things, giving you quick access to your go-to titles," explains Eden Marie, principal software engineering lead for Xbox experiences.
But that's not all! Microsoft is also working on an option to reduce the number of tiles displayed, further minimizing clutter. This highly anticipated feature is still being refined and will be available to Insiders soon.

This isn't the first time Microsoft has revamped the Xbox Home UI. A major overhaul was released in 2023, adding more room for backgrounds and easier access to key features. However, this latest update specifically addresses user feedback regarding customizability.
"We’ve heard from many of you that Home should feel more like your space," says Marie. "Whether it’s surfacing your favorite games, hiding what you don’t use, or simply making Home feel less crowded, this update is a direct response to that feedback."
While advertisements on the Home screen remain unchanged, these personalization options are a welcome step towards a more user-friendly experience.
These updates are currently limited to Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha preview rings. However, if testing goes smoothly, expect these features to roll out to all Xbox users in the coming months.
